Hey,

I'm Sergio Pereira, and this is my Remote Work newsletter 👋

Back in 2016, it was a real heavy lifting for me to land a remote job. I had to apply to 300+ roles, until I finally landed my first high paying remote job with a US Startup.

Fast forward to 2023, remote jobs are real. Check this list of 1329 remote companies actively hiring at the moment.

Back in 2016, my search process was applying via job boards, which is still a very viable strategy in 2023. However, most people are wasting their time applying to jobs on Linkedin.

My recommendation: Don't use Linkedin or Indeed to apply to remote jobs. Those job boards have thousands of jobs, but most of it is noise. It's hard for candidates to filter actual remote roles and many listings are actually spam. Applicants will never hear back from the companies they apply to. It's frustrating!

Instead, use these 3 niche job boards, that I recommend for remote jobs:

1) RemoteOK:

By far the best job board to look for remote jobs. It has a solid volume of remote jobs from both large companies and small startups. And the jobs listed mention:
- Geographic constraints
- Salary range
- Async or not

2) Wellfound (formerly AngelList):

AngelList is my personal favourite. I found my first remote job from there, and had several other remote offers after that. It has a solid volume of jobs listed, especially startups and especially from the US. "Most" jobs listed mention:
- Geographic constraints
- Salary range

3) Work at a Startup:

My second favourite. This job board is exclusive for companies backed by YCombinator (the popular Silicon Valley accelerator), and that means well funded tech startups. Most of those companies operate remote and are open to applicants from anywhere. I got my highest offers ever from this job board. Jobs are competitive, but fewer people know about it, so there are nice opportunities.

Getting a remote job is life changing. I hope these tips help you land a remote job yourself! If that happens, please send me a message, I love getting messages like this one I received from Erald, a Data Analyst from Indonesia. You can see more such testimonials here:
